I hope everyone is enjoying this beautiful weekend! I am so thankful for some sunshine and a cool breeze! We spent yesterday out at Wildrock and it was the perfect day for it. I highly suggest a trip out there to explore!
Last week we brought our buckets out on the playground and made paint and paintbrushes using materials that we found on the playground. We also made some fluffy slime this week (thank you Jessie!) and started the process of making our own recycled paper.
This week we will continue to make our own paper. We will also make bird houses out of "trash". PLEASE SEND YOUR LITTLE ONE TO SCHOOL WITH SOMETHING THAT THEY CAN TURN INTO A BIRDHOUSE. This could be a milk carton, a box, a can, a plastic bowl....anything that they think they can turn into a bird house. (FYI- I don't necessarily think birds will take up living in our recycled houses, but they will look pretty neat decorating our playground once they are transformed into the children's creations).
Monday: I will be out. The plan is for the kiddos to make bird feeders and to explore the texture of the paper that was left in water over the weekend.
Wednesday: We will create our bird houses!
Friday: We will finally make our recycled paper! We will have had our used paper in the sensory bin (with
water) all week. Hopefully it will have turned into a nice pulpy mess and we can transform it into our own seeded paper.
Reminders: We will be spending a lot more time outdoors as the weather gets nicer. Please remember to apply sunblock prior to drop off and to add an extra change of clothes to your kiddo's cubby. Also, please remember water bottles! We are all pretty good at remembering them, but just let me know if you forget it so I can make sure we have extra cups on the playground.
Enjoy the rest of this beautiful weekend! I will see everyone Wednesday!
